Justine Bateman is a founding partner of FM78.tv, a production company focused on the future of entertainment. FM78.tv is dedicated to producing high-quality professional content for Internet distribution. They recognize that the future of Entertainment will be distributed exclusively through the Internet soon and as Pioneers in this space, they are helping to design the rules for original professional online content.
Throughout the 1980’s and 90’s, Justine was best known for her acting on shows like Family Ties (for which she earned two Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination) and Men Behaving Badly. In the late 90’s, with many TV shows, films, and theater under her belt, Justine became involved in performance art and after studying under Rachel Rosenthal she went on to produce three performance art collection shows called The Pony Pony Show in Los Angeles.
In 2000, her ease with design and craft birthed a successful design company, Justine Bateman Designs. Known mostly for her incredible hand-knits, Justine and her company sold to shops like Henri Bendel’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Fred Segal. 2003 brought acting to the forefront once more with Showtime’s Out Of Order and Justine found herself taking more time for acting again.
At the same time, she began writing scripts and over the next year found herself with three feature scripts, various pilots, and numerous treatments for future scripts.
The fall of 2007, through her involvement and support for the WGA strike, Justine contributed to the success of the Speechless campaign with Alan Sereboff, Jill Kushner, and George Hickenlooper. She eventually partnered with Jill and Peter Murrieta to form FM78.tv.
FM78.tv is currently in talks with various corporate sponsors and the digital arms of the major studios to fund their projects including Undocumented, Recruiters and the comedy mini-series, Candy Inc, which was created by Justine and is based on one of her pilots. Justine continues to enjoy work as an actress when time permits and was most recently seen on Desperate Housewives, Californication, and two seasons as a regular on Illeana Douglas’ hit web series, Easy to Assemble. At this year’s Streamy Awards, Justine and the rest of the Easy to Assemble cast were honored with the Best Ensemble Cast Award.
Justine has spoken on many panels including The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, NATPE, and Digital Hollywood. She is also an advocate for Net Neutrality. Justine testified before the Senate Commerce Committee on it’s behalf last year and serves as an Advisor to FreePress.com.
